How can I help meet these goals?
  • Attendance
  • Behavior

Attendance:
  • Attend school every day on time unless you are sick.  If you have to miss school, bring a note explaining why you missed school.  Parent notes are allowed for ten (10) days of absences.  Don’t get “unexcused absences” for not bringing notes or for missing too many days.
  • Coming to school late on 3 days = 1 absence

Behavior:
  • Remember, you are responsible for your behavior.
  • Follow the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Follow classroom rules and school rules.
  • Cooperate with your teachers and other adults.
  • Follow the laws of the State of Delaware.

Behavior Agreement
  • Each student will sign a “Behavior
  • Agreement.”
  • The “Behavior Agreement” says that you understand the rules for your classroom, for the school, and for the bus.
  • If there is something you do not understand, you need to ask so you will know what to do.
  • Pay close attention to the next slides, so you can learn how to be a good student.

House Bill 322
  • Police will be Involved:
  • Assault against another student or school worker
  •    What is an assault?  Intentionally causing injury.
  • Extortion
  • What is extortion?  Threatening others for goods or money.
  • Bomb threats
  • Possession of an unlawful drugs

House Bill 171- To Make Safe Schools
  • A safe school does not have any weapons brought to school--no plastic guns, no BB guns, no knives. Not even toy weapons.
  • Any student who brings a weapon to school could be expelled for one(1) year--180 days. Expelled means not allowed to come to school.

Sexual Harassment
  • No one should put his or her hands on another person or make inappropriate comments about another person or their body.
  • If someone bothers you at school or on the bus, report it to a teacher, the counselor, or an administrator.

Watch your Words Carefully!
  • No- threats involving injury/ harm
  • No Cussing
  • Teasing will not be tolerated.
  • Don’t say “something” that leads to a suspension!

Work hard in school every day
  • A good student
    • Listens to the teacher
    • Looks at the teacher when he or she is talking
    • Completes work in class and uses time wisely
    • Completes homework every night
    • Treats others with respect and gets along with others—shows good character
    • Comes prepared for class every day
    • Asks for help
    • Dresses for success

Rewards for students:
  • Each marking period you can earn a ribbon for attendance, good behavior, and good grades
  • For A’s on your report card, you can earn a treat from the Dairy Queen
  • The Terrific Kids Program gives stickers for showing good character—bicycle drawing
  • You can be recognized on our TV broadcast for good behavior and treating others nicely.
