- The driver is the boss of the bus.
- Your bus driver is trying to get you to school and home safely.
- You can help by listening to your bus driver and doing what he or she
asks you to do.
- The driver may assign seats on the bus.

- Your back should touch the back of the seat.
- Your book-bag and your hands should be in your lap.
- You must facing the front of the bus for the whole ride.
- You must stay seated for the entire trip.
- You may not stand up or change seats.

- You may talk to the person sitting on the seat next to you.
- You may not turn around to talk to the people behind you.
- You need to use an inside voice at all times.
- Loud voices may distract the driver.
- Do not talk to the driver while
the bus is moving.

- Chewing gum is not allowed at school or on the bus.

- Your feet should be in front of the seat, never in the aisle while you

- You may not put your hands on another person.
- Your things should stay in your bookbag.
- If someone bothers you, get help from the driver.

- If other people tease you-they are wrong.
- There should be no bad language on the bus.

- The driver can correct your behavior by discussing it with you,
changing your seat , or giving you another consequence.
- The driver of your bus should talk to your parents about your
behavior. After 2 warnings-
- The driver should write a Bus Conduct Report and turn it in to Mr.
Brittingham or Mrs. Bixler.
- This leads to-
- Administrative Talk. Also, your
parents will be contacted by phone/
with a letter (or both).
- Further offenses will result in loss of riding privileges- (1,3,5,10)

- Assign seats and consistently insist that students sit in assigned
seats. Change seat assignments as needed.
- Be on the bus before students board
- Stress to students the importance of getting on the bus and going right
to their assigned seats.
- Insist that all students are sitting down and facing forward before
leaving the parking lot. Do not
leave until they are.

- Remind students of Bus Safety Rules. Tell them when they have done
something right.
- Have a plan to handle minor discipline problems.
- Change seats; have a front seat for students who cause problems.
- Contact parents with phone call and/or Bus Conduct Parent Notice.
Document phone calls.
- Contact parents before problems become severe.
- Ensure that younger students are close to the front, not in back with
middle school students.

- After previous procedures have been followed, document infractions on a
Bus Conduct Form, noting previous steps taken to improve behavior on the
bus.
- Give completed Bus Conduct Form to an administrator. A conference with
the student or students will be held.
Parents will receive a letter in the mail.
- If another infraction occurs
within the next month, the student will be suspended from the bus.
