The position of "teacher aide" in schools has evolved from a general assistant to an essential and effective connection to student learning.   Today instructional paraprofessionals work in conjunction with teachers to promote the education of Delaware's children, from the special needs child to the gifted and talented.  They prepare instructional materials, collect and assimilate data, assist with pre and exit student assessments, work with students in small learning groups, and help develop and reinforce learning strategies.  Paraprofessionals are actively involved with classroom decisions, discipline issues, overall classroom management, and are an intrinsic part of the team with teachers in insuring quality instruction.
